St. George’s Archery Club runs a minimum of three Archery GB-approved beginners’ courses each year. Courses are run indoors in the Winter months on Sunday mornings, and outdoors in the Summer usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They take place at St. John Fisher School, Harrogate unless indicated otherwise.
In the Summer of 2017 we are moving to a new facility at Allerton Park (junction of the A1 / A59), so the above arrangements are subject to change, though indoor courses will continue to be run at St. John Fisher School for the time being.
Courses are relaxed and fun and comprise four weekly sessions coached by Archery GB-qualified coaches assisted by experienced archers. All shooting and safety equipment is provided. To successfully complete your course you will need to commit to attending all 4 sessions.
At the end of the course you will:
* be able to shoot a recurve bow using barebow and freestyle techniques;
* have a sound knowledge of basic technique, safety and etiquette to the level required to join a club
* take away a certificate of attendance which can be used to join any archery club in the UK.
